As a music therapist, Ananya helps clients meet their goals using music with an individualized approach. She believes that music therapy can be fun and doesn’t always need to feel like “work.” She practices from an eclectic perspective, using parts of different techniques (CBT, Humanistic, NMT, DIR Floortime, etc.) she has learned through her schooling.
“I keep up with their personal lives,” Ananya shares when asked how she relates with her students. “I think checking in on how “____” went last week can add that personal touch to show the clients that I truly care about who they are—in and out of each session.”
“My most memorable moment as a music therapist happened when I was in my internship,” Ananya remembers. “I was singing a song for a patient and her daughter as the patient was on her deathbed. As I was singing, she passed away. I felt honored being present with her.”
Ananya loves to travel, read, journal, and spend time in the quiet of nature. She has lived in multiple cities across the country, and in India for 10 years. She enjoys trying new restaurants with her husband and family, playing board games, doing art-related projects, and watching tv in her spare time.
