Music is an incredible way to express creativity, and our Songwriting Class is perfect for beginner-level students in upper elementary and middle school who are ready to explore their musical talents and unlock their creative potential.
This semester-long program is divided into two 7-week sessions and provides step-by-step guidance to help young musicians write and perform their own songs. Through engaging lessons, collaborative activities, and hands-on practice, students will build the confidence and skills needed to bring their musical ideas to life.
What Students Will Learn and Experience:
- Songwriting Fundamentals: Understand melody, lyrics, chord progressions, and song structure.
- Creative Exploration: Experiment with different musical genres and styles to find their unique voice.
- Performance Skills: Gain confidence through opportunities to share and refine their work in a supportive environment.
- Collaborative Projects: Work with peers to co-write songs and learn the art of teamwork in music creation.
- Practical Tools: Use age-appropriate techniques and exercises to spark inspiration and overcome creative blocks.
This class is designed to meet students where they are, providing a supportive and welcoming space for beginners to grow and thrive musically. By the end of the semester, students will have written their own original songs and gained the confidence to share their music with pride!

Class Details for Spring Semester 2025
- Day and Time: Thursdays at 6:30 – 7:30 pm
- Session 1: February 6 – March 20
- Session 2: March 27 – May 15 (Class will not meet on April 10 due to Spring Break.)
- Cost: $125 per 7-week session
- Location: Zoom (Link will be sent to students prior to the first date of each session.)
- Sign up for both sessions at the beginning of the semester and receive a $20 discount. (Total of $230 when you sign up for both sessions.)
About the Teacher
Dr. Victor Ezquerra is an experienced musician and educator with a Ph.D. in Music and over 15 years of teaching experience at all levels, including college. Specializing in songwriting and multiple instruments—guitar, bass, drums, piano, and more—Victor helps students develop their unique musical voice while mastering the fundamentals.
