Piano Comps and Evaluation Program

Our experience hosting a Federation Festival every spring at Metro Music Makers led our team to the vision of creating our own assessment opportunity just for piano students. We created this assessment to allow parents to have a way to measure their child’s improvement on the piano—not to mention, students who participate can learn responsibility, creativity, and follow-through. Plus, it allows students to get another teacher’s perspective, and it’s a great addition to college applications!

The Metro Music Makers Piano Comps and Evaluation Program will assess a student’s musical abilities across a range of skills, including basic knowledge (scales), ability (technique), and creativity (improvisation and musicality). In this virtual event, students will showcase their skill level to a panel of professional musicians by performing two required pieces and scales/chords in corresponding keys. Auditions are submitted via pre-recorded video. All performers will receive a digital certificate of participation along with the completed evaluation form.

The deadline to register for this year’s Piano Comps and Evaluation Program is March 21, 2025, and all videos must be submitted by March 28, 2025. The cost to participate is $45, with an optional fee of $15 to receive a hard copy of the certificate and a commemorative participation button.
