Read Music Fluently
Pianists, more so than singers, brass musicians or drummers, are known for their ability to read music fluently. Metro Music Makers will teach you to read notes in the treble and bass clefs, map those notes to keys on the piano, and even learn how to sight read at a high level. This takes commitment and practice, but after a period of time, you’ll be able to sit down at the piano and play a piece of music, from start to finish at the first time of reading. Fluent music reading allows you to:

Play WIth Excellent Technique
To play the piano comfortably and at a high level for many years, you will need to play with good technique. That involves removing tension from your shoulders and forearms, keeping your wrists comfortable and rotating without tension, and good posture, among other things. We start teaching good technique from the first lesson, and these fundamental skills will allow you to play with speed and expression.
Theory and Analysis
Parts of music theory appear on the page: sharps, flats, key signatures, scales, and other nuts and bolts of music. But over time. You’ll learn to recognize chord patterns, musical structure, and more. This will help you learn music more quickly, and appreciate music at a deeper level. Whether you are playing Chopin, going to a symphony concert, or listening to a top 40 hit, you’ll recognize elements in the music and understand them.
Play the Piano By Ear
Ever wanted to sit down at the piano and play the chords of your favorite pop tune, or play your own version of a song that you love? With your knowledge of chords, patterns, notes, keys, and other skills, you’ll learn how to do that. It takes practice, but we can help you.
