This is an interesting time for us all, isn’t it? Some people may be enjoying the at-home time, but for others, this is a big challenge. I know that I miss my students, but I’ve been thinking about ways to educate them through the online platform that Metro Music Makers has been using. I have found what I believe are some worthwhile music sites to grow my students even though I’m not in the room with them. Maybe that break from common core math all day can be comprised of a few of these?
1. Flashcards – I believe we could all use a little note refresher, and
this website not only includes treble and bass clef, but also
alto and tenor clefs. It’s even got a timer for a little extra hustle.

2. Hansel and Gretel Interactive Opera – Now, I know what you’re
thinking, but this site is off the charts! You create an opera, learn
about the instruments of the orchestra, stage design, blocking,
costumes, and so much more. Seriously, if you don’t check out any of these

3. Elementary Music Games – PBS Kids is a fantastic resource for any
elementary and little learner that you have. PBS Kids Music Games
4. Classics for Kids – Classics for kids has music games geared to
rhythm, note naming, orchestra parts and even composer information. I
found the advanced mode on the rhythm game to be the most fun. Check it

5. New York Philharmonic – The New York Philharmonic has a website
geared the same way as KUSC’s opera interactive, but instead of a whole
opera, they have specified games. Take a look and see what instruments
you can put together and performances you can create. New York Philharmonic
Bonus: Download the “My Singing Monsters” app on your iPad or iPhone
and create your own island of music. You can even check out what other beats
people are coming up with! Note: This may or may not be my husband’s
personal favorite!
