Guillermo Guerrero has been studying piano for around five years and voice for the last year. His teacher Kristen Van Dyke enjoyed interviewing him for this article, saying some of his answers really made her laugh.
Why did you choose to study piano and voice?
Piano: “I like learning fun, famous music.”
Voice: “Singing is something to express your feelings and there’s a lot of songs that sound fun!”
What kind of music do you like to listen to? Who’s your favorite band or musician?
“I like to listen to the classics of the 60s, 70s and 80s. I like the Beatles, Queen, Frank Sinatra and George Michael!”
What do you love about music?
“It has a power of controlling your emotions.”
What do you like to do when you’re not playing music?
“I play to play video games, draw, and play outside.”
Do you play any sports or do any other activities outside of music lessons?
“I play soccer and basketball, and I also take French lessons.”
What’s your proudest accomplishment so far in life?
“Making it to 5th grade!”
What’s your favorite TV show or movie?
“I really like Stranger Things and The Goonies.”
What’s your favorite food? Favorite candy?
“I love pig ribs, and my favorite candy is Bottle Pops.”
What’s your favorite subject in school?
“Math because I’m the best at it!”
If you were going to be on a reality TV show, would you rather be on American Idol, The Voice, orAmerica’s Got Talent? Why?
“The Voice or America’s Got Talent so a lot of people could watch me.”
What do you want to be when you grow up?
“I want to be an athlete and a musician.”
What else would you like to tell us about yourself?
“I hate the metronome, and I’m scared of cockroaches. They are too humungous and creepy!”
