1. What do you teach at Metro Music Makers?
Music therapy, voice, piano, guitar and ukulele
2. When did you first start taking music lessons?
My first instrument was the violin at age 5 after I graduated from Kindermusik class! I still thank my parents for enrolling me in early childhood music classes so young, and for putting up with me screeching on the violin for a long time!
3. What musician inspires you the most, and why?
I don’t know if I can pinpoint one specific musician right now, but I have been SO inspired lately by good songwriters. It is amazing to me when musicians can not only tell a story through words, but through the music. In a world of very produced music (don’t get me wrong — I love a good dance hit), I generally gravitate toward one singer with their piano or guitar sharing something so personal in a way that only music can.
4. What was your first concert?
Spice Girls!!!
5. What was your favorite concert, and why?
Wow, this is a tough question! I think overall I would have to go with Celine Dion. She is absolutely as flawless in person as she sounds on her recordings, and you can tell how much she appreciates her fans. I was in awe the entire concert! Second place would probably have to go to the Backstreet Boys/New Kids on the Block tour several years ago when my inner 90s boyband “fangirl” got to come out!
6. What’s the latest in your own music world?
I am excited to be singing with the Johns Creek Chorale this year! Choral music has really always been my singing home, and I am excited to be part of a choir again!
7. What’s the latest in your world outside of music?
My husband and I can’t believe we are starting our THIRD school year down here in Georgia after a big move from New Jersey! I am so thankful to call Georgia home; we love it! I also enjoy being Dog Mom to the max to our little pup Mosby! All of my students have heard me talk about him way too much and he could probably win the title of “America’s Most Spoiled Dog.”
