We are proud to introduce you to our September Student of the Month, Sonakshi Mishra. Sonakshi is
one of our most accomplished students at Metro Music Makers and was nominated by her teacher, Mr. J.T. Lee. He tells us that he nominated her “not only for her phenomenal skills and talent, but for her wonderful attitude and work ethic. She’s an extremely busy kid and yet never has a bad attitude about anything I ask her to do. She also practices religiously and usually completes any assignments within a week of getting them.”
Sonakshi is 17 years old, and has received a Superior rating at the piano solo event and an Excellent rating at the theory event of the Federation Festival. She is an AP scholar in Music Theory, Government, Calculus and Language, has placed in debate nationals, qualified to varsity state, is the VP of the Spanish National Honor Society, a Head Grader at Eye Level Tutoring, President of Junior Achievement, and President of her chapter of the National Organization of Women. She let us know she’d be happy to send us her full resume if needed.
And did we mention she’s also a budding songwriter who performs her own original work?
This is what Sonakshi had to say about her love of music:
“Music is my way of destressing after a hard day. It’s one of the only ways I can clear my head, calm down and focus on one thing. Additionally, I love the sense of accomplishment post performance after I’ve practiced for a really long time.”
We are so proud to have such an intelligent, accomplished and hard working student in our Metro Music Makers family, and we hope you’ll look for Sonakshi at our upcoming performances.
