Meet our January Student of the Month, Zoya Akram! She was nominated by her teacher, Miss Sarah Harville. Miss Sarah says, “She is always a joy to teach, and enjoys challenging herself. She also recently added some singing to her lessons, and loves singing Taylor Swift.”
Not only does Zoya play piano and sing, she’s a young composer! In December, Zoya won her school’s Reflections contest with her original composition, “School Days,” and she will be going on to compete at the National level. If you joined us for our Masked Mayhem Halloween Recital last year, you heard her perform another of her original compositions entitled, “Zoya’s Costumed Creatures.”
Here’s what Zoya herself has to say:
“My name is Zoya. I’m 9 years old. My birthday is in November. I do gymnastics every week. I love piano because when I play my mom and dad always compliment me and also because I have a really good teacher who really encourages me to practice more. One of my favorite composers is Beethoven and I really like singing Talyor Swift. I’ve composed a few songs myself like “School Days” and “Zoya’s Costume Creatures”. I really enjoy piano. Hopefully someday I’ll become a composer!!!”
Miss Sarah wants everyone to know “how proud we all are of her,” and says “She is currently working hard on her Federation music and can’t wait to blow the judges away!”
We wish her the best of luck at the Federation Festival, and send her a big congratulations for being our January Student of the Month!
